It is important to feed mom as well as baby, so I try to think of ways to make food that both me and my baby can enjoy.  Here’s a healthy breakfast for mom & baby!

Baby-Mama Breakfast – This breakfast of steel cut oats gives you and your baby whole carbohydrates, vitamin B1, iron, magnesium and selenium. Steel cut oats are also known as Scottish Oats or Irish Oats.

You need:  1/2 Cup of Steel cut oats, 1& 1/2 Cups of water & 2 cubes of pureed fruit.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil and once it is boiling add your 1 cup of steel cut oats

Bring 1.5 cups of water to a boil and once it is boiling add your 1/2 cup of steel cut oats . Stir and lower the heat to bring the oats to a simmer

Aftger the oats have simmered for 10 minutes add your 2 cubes of pureed fruit (here it is mango & papaya - yum!)

After the oats have simmered for 10 minutes add your 2 cubes of pureed fruit (here it is mango & papaya - yum!) Stir, stir, stir and let simmer for another 10 minutes, until the oats are a texture that you like.

Serve with yogurt and fresh fruit. Yum!
