As the weather gets warmer, we get excited about taking off our coats, shedding those winter pounds and suddenly everyone has a renewed taste for salad and fresh vegetables.  Keep calm & carry on folks, it’s still a while before our Ontario food starts to show up on the shelves.

Here is a list of fruit and vegetables grown in Ontario by month.  Keep an eye out on those grocery shelves for that little ‘Grown in Ontario’ sign and as ask your grocer to stock Ontario products as these foods come in season.

March – Onions, Parsnips, Rutabaga

April – Onions, Parsnips, Rutabaga

May – Asparagus, Rutabaga

June – Rhubarb, Strawberries, Asian Vegetables (mustard greens, snow pea shoots), Asparagus, Cucumber, Green Peas, Snow Peas, Radishes, Spinach
